Richard has been handling personal injury, vehicle collision, workers’ compensation, and social security disability cases in Upstate SC for 30+ years and Western NC for 25+ years. He offers his clients the advantage of being familiar with the doctors and juries in the area. Each case is personally handled by Richard or his partner, Scott, not by a paralegal or adjuster.
From a working-class family, Richard has always represented working people. His father was a police officer and Coast Guard officer; his mother worked at JCPenney. Richard knows what it is like to put in a hard day’s work and the value of money. Everything he has earned in life was through hard work, but it was also with the help of his family, who always supported him.
Richard’s faith is very important to him. He is committed to pursuing what God would want him to do. He believes that God has led him to help people who have been injured to receive the compensation they deserve.

Scott Beckey has over 25 years of experience representing injured clients. Before that, he worked as an insurance defense lawyer, so he understands how the other side thinks. Insurance defense work provided him with insight into how insurance companies operate and the tactics they use to deny claims or pay less than the full value of accident and injury claims. Scott quickly realized that the playing field is stacked against accident victims, and that is why he decided early in his law career that he would fight for injured individuals, not large insurance companies and corporations.
Before attending the University of South Carolina School of Law, Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Education at Auburn University. After working for several years in the University Housing Office at Furman University, Scott decided to follow his dream of becoming a lawyer. In law school, Scott’s trial expertise was evident from the start. He won the school’s trial team competition and was selected to represent the University of South Carolina School of Law at the regional trial team competition. Scott has also been awarded the “AV Preeminent Rating” by Martindale-Hubbell, representing the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards.
When he is not working hard for his clients, Scott can be found cooking BBQ on his smoker, watching college football, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
